Kobakhidze: Georgia and China are transitioning to a comprehensive strategic partnership

Relations between Georgia and China are moving to a new level, “envisaging a comprehensive strategic partnership,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated at a press conference at the government administration.

“Today is a very important day. As you know, about three years ago, a strategic partnership agreement was concluded between Georgia and China, and now we are moving to the next stage—the stage of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

These three years have brought a great deal to our bilateral relations. Our political and economic ties have deepened significantly, which has manifested in concrete steps. In particular, as you know, a visa-free regime was introduced, direct flights are operating, and new flights are being added this year, ensuring greater mobility between Georgia and China. In addition, we have achieved highly concrete and tangible results in the trade and economic sphere.

These are precisely the results brought by the strategic partnership agreement signed three years ago. Now we are moving to a new stage—a comprehensive strategic partnership, which will yield even greater results in terms of deepening Georgian-Chinese relations. This is a very important agreement that was signed today,” Kobakhidze stated.
