Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID), stated that Moscow is ready to deepen Russian-Georgian ties, which, according to her, serve as one of the main factors in Georgia’s economic growth.
“We view with understanding Tbilisi’s attempts to put an end to external dictates and to interact with foreign partners on an equal, mutually respectful basis.
“We are ready to deepen Russian-Georgian ties, which serve as one of the main factors in Georgia’s economic growth. We do this with a pure heart and an open soul,” she stated.
Zakharova pointed out that Russia is “open to expanding cooperation with Tbilisi” on the basis of mutual respect between the sides.
“Tbilisi has made a firm and conscious choice in favor of restoring the country’s sovereignty, ensuring the interests of the Georgian people, and, I would also add, dignity for its country and its people,” concluded the special representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
