Georgia and Kyrgyzstan Agree to Expand Economic and Transport Cooperation

“Georgia is an important partner for Kyrgyzstan, and bilateral relations are built on mutual trust, respect, and long-standing cooperation,” stated Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov during a joint briefing following talks with the Georgian Prime Minister. The Kyrgyz president believes that Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to the republic is a historic event that opens a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

“Today’s talks were held in an open, friendly, and constructive atmosphere. We discussed key issues of the bilateral agenda in detail, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, investment and sectoral cooperation, as well as the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.

Political relations between our states have always been built on trust, which serves as a solid foundation for cooperation in all areas. In this regard, we emphasize the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue, deepening intergovernmental and interparliamentary contacts, as well as expanding consultations between our ministries of foreign affairs.

One of the main areas of today’s discussions was trade and economic cooperation. We noted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade and the need for further practical steps to increase trade turnover, expand direct business contacts, and develop joint investment projects.

Today, the Kyrgyz Republic is demonstrating steady economic growth, actively implementing reforms, and creating favorable conditions for businesses and investors. In this regard, we call on our Georgian partners to participate more actively in projects in transport, logistics, agriculture, construction, the digital economy, tourism, and other promising sectors,” Japarov said.

One of the key issues of the talks was the development of transport routes between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

In addition to the economic agenda, the leaders discussed expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Japarov expressed interest in developing exchange programs in education, science, culture, youth policy, and sports. The President of Kyrgyzstan also invited Georgian athletes to participate in the World Nomad Games, which will be held in the country this year.

Following the talks, the parties signed a number of bilateral documents aimed at further developing cooperation. Japarov expressed confidence that the agreements reached would contribute to strengthening Kyrgyz-Georgian relations and implementing new mutually beneficial projects.
