Mamuka Mdinaradze, Georgia’s State Minister for the Coordination of Law Enforcement Activities, stated that a certain Chulukhadze, a defendant in the case of the “October 4 storming” of 2025, was linked to the “National Movement” (United National Movement, UNM)—the party of former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
The state official noted that the fact that Chulukhadze was linked to the UNM “has been confirmed by everyone.” He remains on the wanted list, but is known to be hiding in Ukraine. And this same individual, Mdinaradze continued, is implicated in the case concerning the preparation of an assassination attempt on the founder and honorary chairman of “Georgian Dream”, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, in 2024.
“The fact that this same person is linked to the attempted revolution on October 4 is also a fact. Furthermore, information was circulated last year that he was also implicated in the case concerning the preparation of an assassination attempt on Bidzina Ivanishvili. However, at the time, no charges could be brought against this individual due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Nevertheless, he was a person of interest in the case and, at the very least, was aware of what was happening,” the politician stated.
Mdinaradze stated that Ivanishvili is “not just in a vulnerable position” but is effectively under sanctions imposed on him by half the world. The State Minister emphasized that an assassination plot against the billionaire could “quite possibly” be in preparation.
“The man has 2 billion frozen. An assassination plot against him could quite possibly be in preparation. Moreover, there will always be attempts to destroy him in every way—not just physically, but comprehensively in general.
<…> And we are not just talking about someone of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s stature. Even someone who has made at least a minimal contribution to the independence of their country is vulnerable, because they too could be eliminated, if you will allow the expression,” Mamuka Mdinaradze concluded.
As a reminder, three months before the parliamentary elections, in July 2024, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSG) announced an investigation into a plot to assassinate the honorary chairman of “Georgian Dream”, Bidzina Ivanishvili. At the same time, as explained, it was linked to a coup d’état case. According to the SSG, the conspiracy was organized and financed by representatives of the former government who are currently in Ukraine.
The agency claimed that the goal was to instigate unrest and a violent change of power. However, no evidence has been presented to the public.
