The Prosecutor’s Office has launched a criminal investigation into the Formula TV channel. The agency was approached by film director Goga Khaindrava, who claims that representatives of the critical media outlet spread false information about a crime he allegedly committed.
The investigation was initiated on charges of making a false report. It is known that Khaindrava himself has already been questioned as a witness. According to the Prosecutor’s Office:
“On June 16, 2026, the Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation under Part 1 of Article 373 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on the fact of a false report.
The basis for initiating the investigation was a statement by lawyers representing the interests of film director George (Goga) Khaindrava, in connection with information disseminated by the Formula TV company regarding the possible commission of a crime by him.
As part of the investigation, film director George (Goga) Khaindrava was questioned as a witness.
All necessary investigative and procedural actions will be carried out, and the public will be further informed of the results,” the Prosecutor’s Office statement said.
