Irakli Kobakhidze: Visit to Tajikistan will take relations with Georgia to a new level

During the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to Tajikistan, a joint communique and a series of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation were signed. According to Irakli Kobakhidze, his visit will take Georgian-Tajik relations to a new level. Kobakhidze made the statement during a joint briefing with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Kobakhidze noted that various areas of cooperation were discussed, including interaction within international organizations.

“I am pleased to be on an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. Our peoples are historically linked by a special relationship based on mutual respect. However, this is the first high-level visit from Georgia to Tajikistan, and it can be called historic,” Kobakhidze stated.

He emphasized Georgia’s interest in further deepening friendship and cooperation between the countries.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Tajikistan on the 35th anniversary of its independence and thanked the country’s leadership for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

In addition, the parties discussed the development of trade and economic ties, cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors, as well as in the cultural, humanitarian, and tourism fields.

Following the meeting, a joint document on the further development and strengthening of bilateral relations was adopted.
