«MFA» of Abkhazia: Peace from Tbilisi is Only an Agreement on the Non-Use of Force

The de facto Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia has reacted to the “When I Return to Abkhazia” contest, which was held in the rest of Georgia. Sukhumi claims that “young people are being forcibly armed with false narratives” at a time when the younger generation in the country “no longer shares the radical views that once led to the unleashing of the war against Abkhazia.”

“Nevertheless, this ideology continues to be artificially imposed. Instead of shaping a rational outlook on the future, Georgian ideologues are trying to turn young people into an instrument of their unfulfilled revanchist policy.

Such attempts to replace historical memory with propaganda constructs are yet another confirmation of Georgia’s unwillingness to accept responsibility for unleashing the war,” the statement says.

Sukhumi considers the signing of a legally binding document on the non-use of military force against occupied Abkhazia to be the only confirmation of political Tbilisi’s peaceful intentions.

“Another educational project for school students was held in Georgia—a contest titled ‘When I Return to Abkhazia.’

Holding such events is not a new initiative—it is an element of Georgia’s long-standing policy aimed at shaping a distorted perception of historical events and the statehood of the Republic of Abkhazia. This project is just one of many examples of this destructive activity.

Under the slogans of ‘peace,’ ‘dialogue,’ and ‘Christian values,’ one-sided political narratives are effectively being imposed on young people, the true goal of which is to raise Georgian youth in an artificially created mythological space.

The generation that unleashed the bloody war against Abkhazia not only refuses to recognize the established political and legal realities, but also continues to purposefully groom successors with an even more distorted understanding of objective historical facts.

<…> In today’s realities, the only confirmation of peaceful intentions on the part of Georgia is the signing of a legally binding document on the non-use of military force against the Republic of Abkhazia,” reads the statement of the de facto ministry.
