Georgia plans to establish a unified registry of foreigners. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, announced the government’s plans during a meeting of the parliamentary Legal Issues Committee.
The registry of foreigners will be established under the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
Darakhvelidze noted that the new registry would allow for more effective monitoring of foreigners entering the country, their access to public services, and efforts to combat illegal migration.
“Just as there is a registry of Georgian citizens, we believe a unified registry of foreigners should be established under the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice. This will make monitoring the entry of every foreigner into the country, their use of services, and the fight against illegal migration more effective,” Darakhvelidze stated.
