Penitentiary Service to Allow Rheumatologist to Treat Leader of “Droa!”

Shota Tutberidze, the lawyer for the imprisoned leader of “Droa!”, along with her doctor and confidante Ani Kavtaradze, met with the chief physician of the penitentiary facility amid the deteriorating health of Elene Khoshtaria.

Kavtaradze said that the leadership of the penitentiary service and the chief physician promised that Khoshtaria’s treating rheumatologist would join her treatment and examine the patient on June 24.

Khoshtaria’s condition has reportedly deteriorated and requires the immediate start of treatment.

Kavtaradze noted that, in the doctors’ opinion, the politician needs assistance and must be transferred to a high-tech clinic, as proper treatment cannot be provided in prison.

It is known that Khoshtaria suffers from severe chronic pain and is not receiving adequate treatment.

Meanwhile, Shota Tutberidze, the lawyer for the “Droa!” leader, said the meeting had yielded some results — the penitentiary service agreed to allow her trusted doctor to assess Khoshtaria’s condition and treatment, and also expressed readiness to provide all necessary medical services.

According to him, the parties acknowledged the previously raised issues with diagnosis and treatment, while Khoshtaria’s condition continues to deteriorate by the day.

The lawyer expressed hope that the commitments made would be fulfilled and that serious consequences would be avoided.
