Georgian Dream MP and parliamentary faction leader Levan Machavariani stated that under the “Georgian Dream” administration, the country has achieved “significant success” in international legal cases against Russia.
Writing on social media, the politician stated that Georgia had won all cases against the Russian Federation in the Strasbourg and Hague courts, noting that international judicial bodies had established Russia’s responsibility for human rights violations in the 1990s, during the 2008 war, and under the ongoing occupation of Georgian territories.
These documents, he emphasized, confirmed Georgia’s territorial integrity, the fact of the Russian occupation, and the right of internally displaced persons to return to their permanent places of residence.
He pointed out that Russia has been ordered to pay up to €465 million in compensation, while the court in The Hague established criminal liability for individuals involved in crimes against the Georgian population.
“P.S. All accusations of war crimes against our heroic servicemen have been completely refuted—accusations attributed to them by the ‘National Movement’ [United National Movement] when it signed a treacherous resolution.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall a single positive response from the radical opposition, wealthy NGOs, and radical media regarding these historic victories,” Machavariani wrote.
