Peskov: It is not yet known what the “ex-leader” of Tskhinvali will oversee

Dmitry Peskov, the head of the press service of the President of the Russian Federation, commented on the appointment of the de facto ex-leader of Tskhinvali, Alan Gagloev, to the post of advisor to Vladimir Putin.

The Kremlin spokesperson stated that the areas Gagloev will oversee in this position have not yet been determined. He also explained that this would not lead to a redistribution of duties within Putin’s Administration.

“It is not yet determined. Adjustments and necessary additions will be made, as well as the distribution of duties among the leadership and the administration, and we will issue the corresponding document,” Peskov explained.

As a reminder, on June 23, Alan Gagloev announced that he was leaving the “post” of the de facto leader of the Tskhinvali region. The decision was “made” following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Following this, according to the “constitution” of the occupied region, starting from 3:00 PM on June 23, Marat Kambolov—a Russian citizen who had worked in the Russian government and was appointed the “prime minister” of the Georgian region just days earlier—became the temporary acting “leader.”
