“Georgian Dream” was created “according to a Russian plan” and is currently operating under Moscow’s influence, claims the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili. Answering questions from citizens during a Facebook live stream, she said:
“Perhaps we did not see this from the very beginning. Personally, I can say this about myself—many did not see it. Some claim today that they knew from the start, but it was not obvious for a long time, while ‘Dream’ maintained its Euro-Atlantic orientation, before its priorities changed, and while it was trying to implement the recommendations.
But at some point, a period came when Russia intensified pressure on this group, on this team, and demanded decisions that would mean halting the negotiations,” Salome Zourabichvili said.
She also linked the subsequent steps of the authorities to the escalation of anti-Western rhetoric, including discussions of the so-called “second front” and criticism of the West.
