Former President Mikheil Saakashvili is ready for “radical revolutionary changes” within his party and will actively re-engage in the political process, says journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani. “Misha will very soon show that he is in shape and capable of creating something new once again,” she says.
“I am absolutely confident that Misha’s energy, his decisions, and the Misha I see—and whom the public will soon see—are fully ready for radical revolutionary changes in his own party, for creating something new from scratch.
As for the political landscape, this is how I see the situation: it is a standoff between Ivanishvili and Misha. Nothing else has worked. Just as politicians who think they know everything and other configurations have failed. Up until 2028, this process will be interesting because Misha will enter the game, and it will be a direct clash between two figures.
Politics is not about locking oneself in a bubble or believing everything said about us. For me, what matters is getting things done—for many years I have been doing work aimed at people, at saving them, regardless of their political, religious, ethnic, or sexual orientation. This is especially important to emphasize after the ‘5+1’ announcement,” Zhorzholiani stated.
As a reminder, the United National Movement (UNM) is preparing for a large-scale renewal. Following a decision by the political council, some of the leaders presented a new concept that envisions more active participation of rank-and-file members and the strengthening of intra-party democracy.
However, the presentation was not attended by the current party chair, Tina Bokuchava, which immediately became a subject of political discussion.
It is also known that Mikheil Saakashvili supports the appointment of Nanuka Zhorzholiani to the post of party chair.
