One person detained in Giga Avaliani murder case

Giorgi Malania, the son of a former deputy minister of internal affairs, has been detained in connection with the murder of Giga Avaliani, the online news agency Interpressnews reports. Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed to the outlet that one person had been detained in the Avaliani murder case.

According to the ministry’s press service, the detention was carried out under Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which covers failure to report a crime. Earlier, the Pirveli TV channel reported that Giorgi Malania had been detained in Lanchkhuti on the basis of a court ruling.

The mother of the deceased Giga Avaliani, Eka Kupatadze, stated that “Giorgi Malania is the most dangerous person in Georgia.”

“If it weren’t for Giorgi Malania, Giga Avaliani might still be alive, because Nia Imnadze would have gone through with it anyway along with her killer lover. But the thing is, Giga was killed on October 1, and October 2 was my birthday, and perhaps we were supposed to go home together.

Giorgi Malania hastened Giga Avaliani’s murder. I declare with full responsibility: Giorgi Malania is the most dangerous person in Georgia, because he looked Giga in the face and knew he had only minutes left to live,” Eka Kupatadze told the Pirveli TV channel.
