Kavelashvili Meets with Iranian President

Mikheil Kavelashvili, the sixth president of Georgia, met with President Masoud Pezeshkian in Iran, according to the Administration.

“At the meeting, the president once again expressed his condolences over the tragic events in Iran and honored the memory of the victims. During the talks, good-neighborly relations between Georgia and Iran were reviewed, as well as the bilateral cooperation agenda. Special attention was paid to the importance of establishing peace and stability in the region.

The parties emphasized that relations between Georgia and Iran are based on mutual respect, as well as on respect for each other’s sovereignty and national interests,” the statement notes.

Kavelashvili thanked Pezeshkian for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During his visit to Tehran on July 3, the Georgian president will attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which is being attended by regional leaders, including those from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as representatives from various countries around the world.
