Georgian Railway announced that starting July 3 of this year, officers from the Security Police Department will ensure passenger safety on trains operating on Georgia’s railway network.
The company noted that department officers will also provide security for Georgian Railway facilities.
A total of 818 police officers will provide round-the-clock security at 76 facilities across Georgia.
Under their protection will be strategically important railway bridges and tunnels, depots, railway stations, and other infrastructure.
This decision was made based on legislative amendments approved by the Parliament of Georgia on March 17, 2026.
