“Dream” MP: Facts in the “Moscow Mechanism” report are inaccurate

Nikoloz Samkharadze, a Georgian Dream MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, pointed out that the activation of the “Moscow Mechanism” and its findings were not supported by the majority of OSCE participating states.

Speaking at the 33rd annual session of the OSCE PA General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, the politician noted that the report contains numerous factual inaccuracies.

“I would also like to draw your attention to another issue in the report regarding the “Moscow Mechanism.” I want to inform the committee that the activation of the “Moscow Mechanism” and its findings were not supported by the majority of OSCE participating states, including the US, France, Spain, Italy, and others. I will not list them all, but 34 member states did not support or approve this conclusion. So, this is an important, a very important fact that should be noted…

Furthermore, the report, prepared by a single expert in 72 hours, contains many factual inaccuracies, as well as allegations. The expert himself admitted that he did not have enough time to gather evidence for all the allegations. Therefore, when the report was discussed in the OSCE Permanent Council, the Georgian government also expressed its position on the report.

Therefore, we cannot consider the report as the ultimate truth, since, as I noted, the expert himself admitted that he could not gather sufficient evidence for the report. Of course, there are certain recommendations that we agree with, and some of the recommendations have already been implemented, but I would like to note once again that this report has certain shortcomings in terms of factual accuracy,” Samkharadze emphasized.
