Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has commented on a draft resolution on Georgia initiated by Congressman Joe Wilson in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA). The diplomat stated that certain political forces are using international organizations to promote their own political agenda against Georgia.
Botchorishvili noted that this is not the first time Georgia-related issues have been used on international platforms for political purposes, adding that Joe Wilson has long been “actively promoting an agenda directed against Georgia on the international stage” and continues to pursue this line within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
“We see that certain figures are using any format, including international organizations, to push their agenda against Georgia as much as possible, and to exploit international institutions for these purposes. This is not the first such attempt,” the minister said.
Botchorishvili emphasized that the latest draft resolution on Georgia, submitted to the OSCE PA, is a continuation of this policy.
“Joe Wilson is someone who actively promotes an agenda against Georgia on the international stage. Of course, he has the opportunity to pursue this same line within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. This is precisely what is demonstrated by his initiative to introduce yet another negative issue related to Georgia into the agenda of the OSCE PA sessions,” the Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister added.
