Kavelashvili: Supported the Protest of the Georgian Delegation at the OSCE PA

Mikheil Kavelashvili, the sixth president of Georgia, commented on the Georgian delegation’s walkout from the OSCE PA session prior to the vote on the “Hague Declaration,” which contains a resolution criticizing the country’s authorities. He noted that the parliamentary delegation “gave a worthy response” to US Congressman Joe Wilson and urged not to pay significant attention to the statements of such politicians.

He stated that Georgian MPs regularly assess Wilson’s statements and make “objective remarks” addressed to him.

“Our parliamentary delegation gave Joe Wilson an appropriate response. Every day, our MPs comment on his statements quite accurately and give them an objective assessment. For me, the actions of one congressman, who is an interested party, are obvious—plain to see. It is also easy for any citizen to understand what other forces might be behind this. Therefore, as little attention as possible should be paid to such figures,” Kavelashvili said.
