Tbilisi to host march in memory of volunteers killed in Ukraine

A march in memory of Georgian volunteers killed in Ukraine will take place in Tbilisi on July 11. Participants will gather at the Philharmonic, the capital’s main concert hall.

The statement notes that for more than two centuries, the Georgian people have been fighting against Russian imperialism and occupation, and that at various points in history, other nations striving for freedom, including Ukrainians, have walked the same path.

The organizers state that today Ukraine is fighting for peace, as well as defending its independence and sovereignty against a common enemy. Georgian citizens are also taking part in this struggle, “fighting in Ukraine for Georgia,” the statement notes.

“Georgians are making a worthy contribution to this struggle. They are fighting in Ukraine for Georgia. More than 120 Georgian heroes have given their lives in this war. Their selflessness and courage will hold a special place in the history of Georgia and Ukraine.

It is to their memory that the march, which will take place on Saturday, July 11, is dedicated. Their heroism gives us the strength not to reconcile with the occupation, and to defend our country’s independence, peace, and future.

July 11, Saturday, 19:00.

From the Philharmonic to the Parliament.

Glory to the heroes!

Glory to Georgia!

Glory to Ukraine!” reads the organizers’ statement.
