Congressman Wilson Calls Georgian Delegation’s Walkout from OSCE PA Session “Disgraceful”

US Congressman Joe Wilson has criticized the Georgian delegation’s decision to walk out of the plenary session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague in protest during the consideration and adoption of a resolution on Georgia. In a post on the social media platform X, Wilson described the Georgian delegation’s actions as “disgraceful.”

“Wait and see what we pass at the next annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Charleston,” Wilson wrote on X.

He also stated that he was pleased with the adoption of his resolution on Georgia.

“This is an important step in support of President Trump’s strong foreign policy agenda and against war criminal Putin’s attacks on our allies in Eastern Europe,” Wilson noted.

Earlier, members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly elected Joe Wilson as Chair of the Committee on Political Affairs and Security.

In a separate statement, the congressman also said he was disappointed that his colleague had unlawfully declared the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled for 2027 in Charleston, to be canceled.

This refers to a dispute between two high-ranking Republicans – Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Congressman Joe Wilson. According to the news outlet Semafor, since 2024 Wilson has been pushing to host the next annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in his home state of South Carolina. Wicker initially supported the initiative but later changed his stance and informed Wilson that Charleston would no longer be able to host the event.

According to Wilson, Wicker even threatened to leave him behind in Europe and banned him from returning to Washington on the official delegation’s aircraft.

The congressman claims the dispute is related to the funding of the event. According to him, the US House of Representatives has already approved the funding, while the Senate has yet to pass the corresponding decision. Wilson believes Wicker is using this situation to derail the session in Charleston.

Joe Wilson’s office stated that the Charleston event has not yet been canceled, and the congressman himself urged Senator Wicker to make the “right decision.”
