Negotiations to ensure the availability of one of the modern treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy in Georgia are in their final stages. This was announced by parents of children with the condition following their latest working meeting with the country’s Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze.
According to the statement, engagement with various organizations is also ongoing regarding the potential inclusion of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in clinical trials.
“As noted at the meeting, negotiations to secure the availability of one of the drugs in Georgia are already in their final stage, and details of the negotiations regarding the second drug will be announced next week.
We hope that the negotiations on the second drug will also be successfully concluded, the process will continue without unnecessary delays, and any potential obstacles will be addressed in a timely manner.
Furthermore, negotiations with other pharmaceutical companies are ongoing. Work is also being carried out with various organizations regarding the potential participation of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in clinical trials.
