The tragedy occurred yesterday in the center of Gori, on Chavchavadze Street. According to preliminary reports, a Jeep-type vehicle struck a mother and her three-year-old child as they were crossing the road.
Both victims were taken to the hospital. The woman died shortly after admission. Doctors assessed the three-year-old child’s condition as extremely critical, and plans were underway to transfer the child to a children’s hospital in Tbilisi. However, it was later learned that the child had died in the hospital.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported that the driver of the vehicle has been detained. An investigation is underway under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which establishes liability for violating road safety rules.
