“The letter of appreciation from US President Donald Trump is an important signal that allows us to look forward to a swift reset of Georgian-American relations,” says the Georgian Prime Minister.
Irakli Kobakhidze considers it “particularly important” for Tbilisi that his visit to the US Embassy on the occasion of America’s Independence Day received such a response from the US President.
He also emphasized that the Georgian authorities are interested in fully restoring bilateral relations and the strategic partnership with Washington.
“We have repeatedly said that we want to completely reset our relations, restore the strategic partnership, and do so with a clean slate, based on a concrete roadmap. Such signals allow us to remain optimistic that relations can be reset in the near future. This is our desire, and we are patiently waiting for a clear position from the American side on this matter,” Kobakhidze noted.
Earlier, the Administration of the Government of Georgia reported that US President Donald Trump had sent a letter to Irakli Kobakhidze thanking him for his congratulations on the occasion of US Independence Day. In his message, the US leader stated that joint work between Georgia and the US in support of sovereignty, security, and long-term prosperity would allow for significant progress.
