The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia has initiated proceedings against singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili. He is one of the witnesses to an incident that occurred during a wedding at a hotel in Telavi, Kakheti.
The ministry stated that Mrelashvili was questioned as a witness, during which he refused to remain at the police station for an extended period. According to the MIA, he subsequently insulted police officers and damaged a storage locker.
As a reminder, officers from the Kakheti Police Department of the Georgian MIA had previously detained one individual on charges of intentionally causing minor bodily harm. According to the investigation, during the wedding celebration at a hotel in Telavi, foreign citizens staying at the hotel insulted wedding guests from their balcony and poured water over the musical equipment. Following this, the accused inflicted physical injuries on a female foreign national.
The victim was taken to a clinic to receive the necessary medical assistance.
The suspect was detained as a result of operational search measures and investigative actions.
An investigation is underway under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (“Intentional infliction of minor bodily harm”), which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
