The Prosecutor’s Office will demand bail with alternative detention as a preventive measure for Giorgi Chigladze, who was detained after the scandal in Telavi. The bail amount is 5,000 GEL (over $1,905).
The Telavi District Court will consider the preventive measure for Chigladze on July 21.
“The detainee will be charged under Part 1 of Article 120 of the Criminal Code. In cases of this category, we will petition for bail with alternative detention in the amount of 5,000 GEL,” the agency reported.
As a reminder, Giorgi Chigladze was detained following an incident at a hotel in Telavi. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia — intentional infliction of minor bodily harm. The maximum penalty under this article is up to three years in prison.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during a wedding, foreign citizens staying at the hotel insulted the wedding guests from their room’s balcony and poured water over the music equipment. Following this, the accused inflicted bodily harm on a foreign citizen. The victim was taken to a clinic for medical assistance.
It is also noted that administrative proceedings have been initiated against singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims he was summoned to the police station as a witness in the wedding incident case. During questioning, he refused to remain at the station for an extended period, after which, as the agency claims, he insulted police officers and damaged a storage locker.
