Alena Nesteryuk, who was injured in an altercation at a wedding in Telavi, stated that she had traveled to Georgia with her friends to celebrate a birthday and that they had given no reason for a dispute with the wedding guests.
“I don’t think we provoked the conflict in any way. We didn’t spill anything, we didn’t argue, and we didn’t insult anyone. On the contrary, the other side started the argument,” said the woman involved in the incident at a Telavi hotel.
She noted that the group of five young women had just checked into the Agaranis Mamuli hotel and opened a bottle of champagne. Nesteryuk noted that a few drops might have accidentally fallen from the balcony, but she maintains that nothing serious occurred. She herself was inside the room when the conflict began.
When there was a knock on the hotel room door, the women assumed it was a hotel employee and opened it, but according to Nesteryuk, an unfamiliar man burst into the room.
“His behavior was completely erratic. We were all very frightened,” she said.
The woman involved in the conflict also said that the hotel management did nothing to help resolve the situation and did not even apologize to them.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 18 at the Agaranis Mamuli hotel in Telavi, where a wedding was taking place while the group of tourists was staying there. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, one of the wedding guests, Giorgi Chigladze, struck Alena Nesteryuk in the face. The man was detained.
The defense of the detained man maintains a different version of events — his lawyer claims that the women allegedly poured liquid on the wedding guests from the balcony and behaved provocatively. Nesteryuk categorically denies these allegations.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
