Giorgi Chigladze, the defendant in the case involving the incident at the Agarani Estate hotel in Telavi, told the court that he regrets what happened, noting that he did not want things to end this way.
“I regret the crime I committed, but it was not my intention for everything to end this way,” Chigladze said during the court hearing.
Meanwhile, the Telavi District Court has ordered a preventive measure for Giorgi Chigladze, who was detained in connection with the incident during a wedding at the Agarani Estate hotel in Telavi. The court ruled to release the defendant on 5,000 GEL (Georgian Lari) bail.
The decision was made by Judge Tamar Kapanadze, partially granting the prosecution’s motion. Following the announcement of the ruling, Chigladze was released in the courtroom.
As a reminder, Giorgi Chigladze was detained following an incident at a hotel in Telavi. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia — intentional infliction of minor bodily harm. The maximum penalty under this article is up to three years in prison.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the wedding, foreign citizens staying at the hotel insulted the wedding guests from the balcony of their room and poured water on the musical equipment. Following this, the defendant inflicted bodily injuries on a female foreign national. The victim was taken to a clinic to receive medical assistance.
It is also noted that administrative proceedings have been initiated against singer Aleksandre Mrelashvili. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that he was summoned to the police department as a witness in the wedding incident case. During questioning, he refused to remain at the station for an extended period, after which, the ministry claims, he insulted police officers and damaged a storage locker.
