The Georgian Prime Minister has declared the importance of resetting relations with Germany. Irakli Kobakhidze commented on the presentation of credentials by Georgia’s Ambassador to Germany, Aleksandre Kartozia, to the President of Germany.
“Germany has traditionally been one of Georgia’s most important partners. Since the 1990s, it has made a significant contribution to the development of our country, and we want to return to that positive dynamic in our relations.
Germany’s ambassador to Georgia has changed, and our ambassador to Germany has presented his credentials to the President of the FRG. We hope that these steps will contribute to a relaunch of our relations, which is of very great importance to us.
We are grateful to Germany for the support we have received since the 1990s, and therefore we are particularly interested in restoring a positive dynamic in bilateral cooperation,” Kobakhidze stated.
At the same time, he noted that “the former ambassador (of Germany) made a very negative contribution to Georgian-German relations.”
As a reminder, on July 23, Georgia’s Ambassador to Germany, Aleksandre Kartozia, officially presented his credentials to the President of Germany. According to the Office of the President of the FRG, the accreditation ceremony for the new ambassadors took place in Berlin on July 23. Aleksandre Kartozia was appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Germany on October 1, 2025.
