Givi Mikanadze, Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, has signed an order approving the cost of school uniforms for primary school students in public schools at 25 and 45 lari.
An annex to the order specifies the fixed price for each uniform item:
- boys’ school jacket — 45 lari (over $17);
- boys’ school trousers — 25 lari (under $10);
- girls’ school jacket — 45 lari;
- girls’ school trousers — 25 lari;
- school skirt:
- short — 25 lari;
- long — 25 lari.
The price is fixed, and selling uniforms at any other price is prohibited.
As a reminder, for the 2026–2027 academic year, the Ministry of Education of Georgia will procure school uniforms for primary students in public schools from Glory Textile Industry LLC. The company’s manufacturing facilities are located in China.
Under the education reform carried out by the Georgian authorities, wearing a school uniform has become mandatory for public school students from grades 1 through 6 inclusive.
