The Revenue Service of Georgia has addressed reports regarding issues at the Sarpi border crossing, stating that the checkpoint continues to operate normally despite the peak season and increased cargo and passenger traffic.
Border and customs clearance procedures in both directions are being carried out routinely and without disruption, the Revenue Service declared.
“Despite the high season and increased volume of freight and passengers, the Sarpi customs checkpoint is functioning without disruption. Border crossing procedures in both directions are being fully carried out,” the agency reported.
Meanwhile, citizens reported large crowds gathering at the Sarpi checkpoint. Due to the high number of travelers wishing to cross the border, clearing customs control is taking longer than usual.
