“Saba Jikia marked his 20th birthday in detention, Andro Chichinadze his 30th, and Giorgi Chikvaidze his 40th,” wrote the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, on social media, commenting on the situation regarding those detained during protest rallies.
“It is they who, with conscience, dignity, and renewed energy, will build a free Georgia. The years spent by them and their families in detention will surely be repaid to them a hundredfold. Thank you to them for everything, and above all for what we particularly lack today — an example of humanity and patriotism.
Of course, this gratitude applies not only to these three, but to all those who set an example through their courage and uncompromising struggle while in prison. Especially against the backdrop of representatives of the regime, who daily display examples of dishonor, corruption, cowardice, lies, and much more,” Salome Zourabichvili wrote on Facebook.
