Georgia’s National Center for Disease Control Urges Precautions During Hot Weather

The National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia has issued recommendations to the public amid the ongoing hot weather. The agency noted that the risk of intestinal infections and food poisoning increases during the summer months.

To prevent these illnesses, several simple rules should be followed: store food properly, use high-quality ingredients, cook food thoroughly, and maintain hand hygiene. Specialists recommend storing raw and prepared foods separately. Furthermore, cooked food should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Particular attention should be paid to the safety of drinking water and food products. Fruits, vegetables, and herbs must be thoroughly washed under running water before consumption. If there are any doubts regarding the quality of drinking water, it must be boiled.

The National Center for Disease Control also reminded the public that regular and thorough handwashing with soap remains one of the most effective measures for preventing infections, especially before preparing food and eating.
