Nata Vibliani, who reported being abused 30 years ago, officially recognized as a victim

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has officially recognized Nata Vibliani, who stated that she was subjected to sexual violence around 30 years ago, as a victim. The corresponding statement was published on Facebook by her lawyer, Tariel Kakabadze.

The investigation into Vibliani’s case is being conducted under Article 137 of the Criminal Code, which establishes liability for rape. The case is being investigated by the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The case was opened about a month ago based on video appeals circulated on social media. Nata Vibliani claims that during the 1990s, an adult fellow villager systematically raped her over several years. In addition to him, Vibliani accuses three other fellow villagers of rape.
