All control procedures have been suspended at the Kazbegi customs post. Customs operations will resume as normal and at full capacity once risk factors subside, according to the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
Earlier, it was reported that an alarm notification system was activated in the Devdoraki Gorge, located near the Georgian-Russian border. The alert was triggered by a shift in a riverbed accompanied by a minimal rise in water levels.
«As a result, the high-precision system immediately transmitted an alarm signal to the Kazbegi customs checkpoint,» the Ministry of Finance noted.
To ensure safety, staff at the checkpoint—along with on-site representatives of the Patrol Police and Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, employees of various companies, truck and passenger car drivers, and their passengers—were evacuated to a safe zone in coordination with relevant state agencies.
The Revenue Service noted that all types of customs control procedures at the Kazbegi checkpoint have been suspended. The import and export of goods across the Georgian border, as well as customs procedures for individuals crossing the state border through this point, are temporarily halted.
