Poland has tightened entry rules for citizens of Georgia, Colombia, and Venezuela arriving for employment purposes. According to media reports, the regulation signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski on August 10 came into effect on Saturday and applies directly to individuals entering the Republic of Poland to work.
Citizens of the three designated countries may still enter Poland visa-free for tourism and other permitted short-term purposes. For those who arrived in the country before August 15, the previous regulations remain in effect.
The Polish government explained that nationals of these three countries systematically abuse the visa-free regime to seek employment without complying with statutory requirements.
According to officials, the reasons for introducing the new measures include illegal employment, unlawful stay, the growth of the shadow economy, labor exploitation, and human trafficking. They also noted that these three states are considered high migration risk countries.
