A 67-year-old man suspected of sexually harassing an 11-year-old girl has been found dead in Georgia’s Imereti region. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the man committed suicide — he was found hanged near his home.
An investigation into the incident has been opened under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (incitement to suicide). Prior to his death, a criminal case had been launched against the suspect under Article 141 (indecent acts / depraved actions).
On August 22, media outlets reported that the minor’s family had demanded the man’s arrest and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. As part of the ongoing investigation, police did not have the opportunity to formally question the suspect or press charges prior to his death.
