The mother of Daur Buava, an Abkhaz blogger who died in Tbilisi, is currently in Georgia. According to the TV Pirveli channel, a few hours after landing at Tbilisi International Airport, she will head to a police precinct “to sign documents.”
According to journalists, Buava’s mother will have to decide whether an alternative forensic examination is necessary. Earlier, lawyer Natia Mezvrishvili called for an independent examination to be conducted.
The 32-year-old blogger from Abkhazia was found dead in Tbilisi on August 28. Meanwhile, security camera footage indicates that Buava was last seen entering the building on the 23rd.
Three people have been detained in connection with the blogger’s death. Specifically, the court ordered pretrial detention for Ukrainian citizen Valeriia Kyryliuk, who has been charged with leaving a person in danger. According to investigators, she was using drugs together with Daur in his rented apartment in Tbilisi’s Didi Dighomi district. When the blogger fell ill, she left the apartment.
Two acquaintances of Buava were also detained as part of the investigation. They are charged with the acquisition and possession of illicit drugs.
