Starting September 1, 2026, Georgia will begin testing vehicle noise levels in traffic conditions using portable sound level meters compliant with the international ISO 5130:2019 standard. According to the news outlet Businesspressnews, the inspections will be carried out by authorized units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Under current regulations, vehicle noise levels in populated areas during nighttime hours—from 23:00 to 08:00—must not exceed 80 decibels.
Regarding penalties, under the Code of Administrative Offences, driving a vehicle that exceeds the statutory noise limit carries a fine of 100 GEL (less than $40) and a deduction of 10 points from the driver’s license for a first offense.
In the event of a second violation, the driver will face a 200 GEL fine and a 20-point deduction, while a third and each subsequent violation entails a 300 GEL fine and a 30-point reduction from the driver’s license point balance.
