Germany-based actor Beka Bedianashvili reported that he was denied entry into Georgia. He announced this on his Facebook page. According to him, border guards cited an unpaid fine as the reason for the refusal.
“I was not allowed into my home country. For several hours, they cited various reasons and gathered information until they finally figured out what exactly they wanted to accuse me of. <…> The Georgian authorities are harsh on people with dissenting views. It is because of my political beliefs that I am missing my brother-in-law’s wedding and cannot be with my wife and daughter (they flew out a few days earlier). Now I fear that I will no longer be allowed into the country as long as this government remains at the helm.”
Beka Bedianashvili’s father, in turn, published a photo of a document citing the non-payment of an imposed fine as the ground for the entry refusal.
