The Investigative Division of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the alleged abuse of official authority involving violence committed by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia against attorney Ia Siranashvili.
The offense is stipulated under Subparagraph “b”, Part 3 of Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (Exceeding official authority by public officials or equivalent persons, committed with the use of violence or weapons).
“All necessary investigative and procedural actions will be conducted as part of the criminal case, and the public will be further updated on the results,” the agency’s statement was quoted as saying by Netgazeti.
Tamaz Elizbarashvili’s lawyer, Ia Siranashvili, was present last night during the search of her client’s premises. According to her, law enforcement officers used physical force against her: they knocked the phone out of her hand and kicked her.
