Ivanishvili-backed Mayor Kakha Kaladze has once again commented on statements made by former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. Kaladze noted that, “on a human level,” he “feels sorry” for Garibashvili.
He also addressed a question regarding the potential resignation of Irakli Kobakhidze.
“It pains me to see a former teammate in the situation he has driven himself into through his own actions and statements […] I have no intention of engaging in political speculation. Irakli Kobakhidze is a worthy prime minister. He carries out his work with determination, integrity, and professionalism. Unfortunately, the former team leader is making statements without any substantiation. Since 2012, we have weathered many hardships together. On a human level, I feel sorry for him,” Kaladze stated.
As a reminder, the former Prime Minister of Georgia and one of the leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Garibashvili, is currently serving a five-year prison sentence in connection with a case involving the legalization of illicit income (money laundering). In late August, he was formally charged with accepting a bribe on an especially large scale. Under this count, he faces 11 to 15 years of imprisonment.
