“We arrived in the Donetsk Republic to see our brothers who are defending the Motherland on the front line. We brought the fighters humanitarian aid that we believe will help,” Danelia said.
He specified that motorcycles and one prayer room each were delivered to the servicemen of both units.
RIA Novosti also quoted the “deputy chairman of the DNR People’s Council,” Andrey Kramar: “A Georgian delegation visited us, bringing humanitarian cargo. They are doing this openly. They are proud to support and to have chosen a side in the special military operation.”
As the news outlet notes, Kramar added that thanks to visits by foreign delegations to Donbas, people’s diplomacy and public ties continue to function with a vision for the future.
A video of the event, which took place in occupied Donetsk, was published on the “Slavyanskaya Gvardiya” (Slavic Guard) Telegram channel. “A special place at the meeting was dedicated to the centuries-old spiritual and historical ties between the Russian and Georgian peoples. We are united by a common Orthodox faith, memory, and the desire to help those who protect the lives and dignity of people,” the post states.
During the event, an officer of the Saint Gabriel Urgebadze unit stated that Besik Danelia had collected the humanitarian cargo “for Orthodox Georgians participating in the special military operation.”
In turn, the host of the event introduced Danelia as a “philanthropist and great friend of Donbas from Georgia”: “It is especially gratifying that the Georgian people have responded to the appeal of the entire Russian World, which stands as an outpost in defending traditional family values and all that is good and decent in this wide world.”
Besik Danelia himself stated that he is carrying on “the cause of our fathers, our grandfathers.” He also thanked those in attendance for defending “both Orthodoxy, Russia, Georgia, and justice.” “Victory will be ours,” he concluded.
It should be noted that Besik Danelia was formerly a member of the United Georgia party, which was headed by former parliamentary speaker Nino Burjanadze. About a year ago, Danelia participated in a session of the special commission investigating the activities of the former authorities, held under the leadership of Tea Tsulukiani.
