According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers from the Tbilisi and Adjara police departments detained three foreign nationals in a joint police operation on charges of the illegal group acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition.
Reportedly, following comprehensive operational and investigative measures, law enforcement officers searched the suspects’ temporary residence in Tbilisi and seized four handguns of various models, 156 live rounds, and five magazines as physical evidence of weapons illegally acquired and stored by the group.
All three individuals were detained by police officers as the accused.
According to the ministry, an investigation is underway under Part 6 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of up to 11 years.
