State protection has been assigned to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the former Minister of Regional Development and ex-head of the State Security Service of Georgia. This was stated in a government decree dated September 8, signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the document, the former member of Georgian Dream is granted security detail “until the necessity arising from the relevant prerequisites ceases to exist, for a period up to August 1, 2027.”
As a reminder, Major General Mamuka Mdinaradze announced on August 27 that he was stepping down as Minister of Regional Development and leaving politics of his own accord. At the same time, opposition figures claimed that the resignation was linked to clan infighting within the ruling Georgian Dream party. Rumors have also circulated that Mamuka Mdinaradze is under informal house arrest.
