Educational and care activities have been suspended in seven public kindergartens, according to the Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency. The closures were prompted by symptoms of intoxication detected among children in several facilities.
The agency is reportedly acting in coordination with all relevant authorities, including the Tbilisi Epidemiological Surveillance Service.
“Children at several public kindergartens in Tbilisi developed high fever, accompanied in some cases by nausea and vomiting, and subsequently sought medical assistance at various clinics. Following the recommendations of epidemiologists and in accordance with the law, educational activities have been suspended in seven public kindergartens to mitigate epidemiological risks, while the remaining 183 kindergartens continue to operate.
The agency, in coordination with all relevant departments—including the Tbilisi Epidemiological Surveillance Service, the National Food Agency, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, and the National Center for Disease Control—is taking all necessary measures,” the official statement reads.
