The ruling Georgian Dream party has filed an updated lawsuit with the Constitutional Court demanding a ban on opposition forces. The authorities are now also seeking to outlaw the party of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, “For Georgia” (Gakharia for Georgia).
Georgian Dream stated that the political force “recognizes neither the constitutional order nor the legitimacy of the government” and “under these circumstances, it is no different in spirit from the activities of the others.”
As previously reported, Georgian Dream had already filed a constitutional lawsuit demanding that the activities of the United National Movement, the Coalition for Change, the Strong Georgia – Lelo alliance, and the Federalists be declared unconstitutional and banned.
