Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Lasha Darsalia took part in the high-level event “Prosperity Through Peace: Investing in the Trans-Caspian Trade Route and the TRIPP Initiative,” organized at the initiative of the US Department of State and held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, during his address, Darsalia addressed the development of the Trans-Caspian Trade Route and underscored Georgia’s pivotal role in bolstering transport and logistics connectivity between Europe and Asia.
In this context, the Deputy Minister noted that official Tbilisi welcomes the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, describing it as a crucial step toward ensuring long-term peace and regional stability in the South Caucasus. He noted that peace and deeper regional connectivity unlock new horizons for economic development and partnership.
“Lasha Darsalia also emphasized the strategic importance of the ‘Middle Corridor’ and the TRIPP initiative, pointing out that advancing them will help strengthen intra-regional ties, expand trade and transit potential, and attract foreign investment.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister placed particular focus on the infrastructure projects Georgia is implementing to develop the ‘Middle Corridor.’ Specifically, he highlighted the significance of the Anaklia deep-sea port project, the completion of which will enhance the country’s maritime transport links and expand the corridor’s capacity.”
Darsalia stated that Georgia stands ready, in close partnership with the United States, as well as regional and international partners, to contribute to enhancing regional connectivity and fostering new economic opportunities.
The panel discussion was also attended by the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan, Special Envoy for Peace Missions Steve Witkoff, and representatives of Central Asian countries.
