Georgian Authorities Promise New Slopes, Cable Cars, and Snowmaking System in Gudauri

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that developing the country’s ski resorts is one of the government’s top priorities.

“Very significant projects are being implemented in Gudauri. <…> In total, the state will allocate 31 million lari (around 12 million dollars) in investments. This encompasses an artificial snowmaking system, the installation of new cable cars, a moving walkway (travelator), and new ski slopes with a total length of 6 km.”

According to Kobakhidze, the total length of Gudauri’s ski slopes will reach 86 kilometers. The resort’s new slope will also be equipped with night lighting.

Overall, the Prime Minister noted that data for the second quarter of 2026 showed a record number of foreign visits to Georgia: arrivals from Europe increased by 23.4%, from China by 16.7%, and from Central Asia by 3.1%.
