The Opposition Alliance has declared that it does not intend to participate in the court proceedings addressing the issue of banning five parties. At a special briefing, Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, announced the launch of a new campaign.

Specifically, according to Gvaramia, although the opposition does not plan to attend court hearings, it will be everywhere: “In courtrooms, in Batumi and, most importantly, in the streets of Tbilisi.”

Furthermore, he announced the start of a protest campaign near the First Building of Tbilisi State University on October 25 at 7:00 PM, with the goal of holding a large-scale demonstration by November 28.

“The Opposition Alliance is issuing a statement regarding the dissolution of parties, but this issue is not about stripping us of our positions. We voluntarily relinquished them because the regime usurped the elections and seized the country. We do not intend to be part of this, but what is happening today is not about depriving us of offices—it is about depriving the country of democracy, stripping away the primary dream of our great ancestors and Georgia’s storied history: to be a full member of the European family.

This means depriving our children of better education, depriving our elderly of better healthcare, depriving our retirees of decent pensions—all while they grant themselves the highest salaries. This is depriving our homemakers of [affordable] food prices; this is stripping Georgians of the right to live in their ancestral homes and condemning them to leave the country, emptying entire regions and cities as a result. This is depriving emigrants of their right to vote.

This is cutting farmers off from their largest market and leaving them face-to-face solely with the Russian market, which shut down for Georgian farmers the day before yesterday simply because someone decided so and someone deemed it necessary. This is depriving journalists of independent thought and introducing an index of prohibited words. This is denying civil society and brilliant minds the right to serve their Homeland.”

According to Gvaramia, the 2024 parliamentary elections turned into the appropriation of the country by Georgian Dream “so that corruption could continue, so that your robbery could continue, so that they could continue amassing vast fortunes.”

“That is precisely why we will be everywhere: in courtrooms, in Batumi, and, most importantly, in the streets of Tbilisi. We will protest against everything—fearlessly, uncompromisingly, and with our primary demand: a Georgia without Ivanishvili, restoring Europe, justice, prosperity, and the opportunity for every Georgian to lead a happy life in their own Homeland.

Therefore, we announce the launch of a major campaign on Sunday, the 25th, by the First Building of Tbilisi State University at 7:00 PM. We await all of you; this is a day that belongs to each and every one of us. They are taking away what matters most to us all—they are taking away our Homeland,” Nika Gvaramia stated.
